Loss
Lately it feels like all the solid things in my life are crumbling. I know it's selfish but I wish it would just stop. I wish I could fix my broken marriage but I can't. I wish I didn't have to leave this place with my friends and my job behind. Today was a final blow to me when I found out we lost Steve to his battle with ALS. He was/is a wonderful man who will always have a place in my heart and in the heart of everyone who was lucky enough to know him. He was the eternal optimist and I hope despite the dark days ahead of me that I can take a bit of his optimism and carry it with me. Steve thank you for everything you have done for me in my life and thank you for being like a 2nd dad to me up until the day you died! Rest in peace!!

Things are Changing...
... and my heart is breaking!
The End of The World- song by Nina Gordon
Why does the sun go on shining
why does the sea rush to shore
don't they know it's the end of the world
'cause you don't love me anymore
why do the birds go on singing
why do the stars glow above
don't they know it's the end of the world
it ended when I lost your love
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
why every thing's the same as it was
I can't understand, no I can't understand
how life goes on the way it does
tell me why does my heart go on beating
why do these eyes on mine cry
don't they know it's the end of the the world
it ended when you said goodbye
why does my heart go on beating
and why do these eyes of mine cry
don't they know it's the end of the world
it ended when you said goodbye
The End of The World- song by Nina Gordon
Why does the sun go on shining
why does the sea rush to shore
don't they know it's the end of the world

The Poet ***1/2

I finished reading this book a while ago but I am finally getting around to writing my review of it. The book is called the Poet by Michael Connelly. This was a solid 3 1/2 stars about of 5. It was a really good read. The story is a bit of a murder mystery who done it. I think I liked that the book started off here in Denver... I could picture so many of the places that were being mentioned. From there the book hooks you with twists and turns as well as a little side relationship. I was surprised at the ending which was nice. I would recommend this for the sheer fact that you never know who's really involved until the end and even then it's leaves you wanting more.

Jane Eyre *****

The most recient book I've finnished is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Not sure I can objectively review this book since it is my all time favorite already...but I just read it again so I thought I would show you the standard that I hold all other books to. Of course I give this book a 5 out of 5. It is the timeless tale of a poor orphaned girl who had a very hard upbringing with relatives and in a charity school. She is finally able to go out in the world to be a governess to the ward of Mr. Rochester. While working at Thornfield she finds her true match and equal in Edward Rochester. Some really interesting things transpire until she can find happiness, independence, and love.
I LOVE this book!!!! This book is a classic and that is the opinion of many not just me!

Are You A Gleek?

I'm a total Gleek I have fallen in love with Glee. I laugh till it hurts pretty much every episode. I LOVE it! Plus I love Sue (Jane Lynch)
If you haven't seen this show I highly recommend it! If you already love the show find out if you are a true Gleek by taking this quiz!

SYTYCD Season 7

I think I have told you all before that I love this show but I just wanted to let you know that I still love it. It is one of the things I look forward to in the summer time. This season is going to be a little weird with only 10 dancers, and SYTYCD all stars. I am looking forward to seeing some old favorites but I am kind of bummed not to get to see 20 new people! Don't worry folks I will let you know what I think about it all soon!

The Last Song **.5

Finished reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks last week and thought I would give you my review on it. I am going to give this a 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. It was just ok. It was typical Nichols Sparks. You will need a tissue at one point which is normal with Sparks, but the rest of the story is fluff. Young girl, love, family, rebellion, and finding your self! I would have to say that my favorite character was the little brother Jonah...he had some great one liners! It's a good summer read! I of course had to check out the movie after reading the book, and I thought that the movie was pretty true to the book. Not sure I will be reading anymore Nicholas Sparks but it was ok overall.

4 Years!
Today Hubby and I celebrate our 4th year of wedded bliss. I don't know about all you out there but I haven't done the traditional anniversary presents (ie... paper, cotton, metal, etc.) However, the 4th year is fruit or flowers. So I would be totally ok with getting one of these babies from edible arrangements. YUM!
Happy anniversary honey if you read this I love you!

Book Review: Forgotten Garden ****

I've decided to start reviewing the books I read for all you in blog world. I tend to be an obsessive reader so you will probably hear a lot of reviews from me. So as of last night I finished reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I will give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really loved it! Basically it is a family mystery spread across several generations of women. I could honestly read a full book on each of the women in this story....that is how interesting the characters were. This book has mystery, whimsy, tragedy, and love. After reading this book I plan to go pick up Kate Morton's debut book as well. This book is a beautiful look at what makes us all whole...family. Hope you all read it!!

What do you think?
I'm going home next weekend to help little sister M get ready for Prom! It's senior year and she is pretty excited. I have been commissioned to build a boutonniere for the date. I wanted to do something a little bit out of the box and more masculine. Here are some options I am considering let me know which one you like best.

Yard Work Time

The big plan at our house this spring/summer is the yard. Our front yard needs some flower beds and a dead tree removed, and the back yard needs a stick of dynamite. When we got the house 1 1/2 years ago the back yard was pretty ugly and now it is even uglier. We are going to be spending a lot a time figuring out what to do with it. So if anyone has some good landscape secrets please let me know.

Windows
I remember really liking Christmas widows as a kid. Particularly the ones at the ZCMI Center in Salt Lake that were made of candy. However now a days I really like Anthropologie's windows. They give me the same sense of awe. I just wish I had excess money to spend on all the cute items inside the store...but they are by far my favorite widows for window shopping.

Pink Flamingo
Flamingo.... or as we liked to call it on Vegas visits the Flaming-Ohhh. Anyway moving on....I saw some ladies this weekend wearing their Easter hats on the way to church and I got to thinking that I should have more hats. While browsing for a classy Eliza Doolittle Derby hat I came across this beauty of a hat. It combines the spirit of the Kentucky Derby with the all the class of lawn art! Look out I might be wearing a garden knome hat soon or a plastic grass and daisy welcome mat.
